Last day of School!

Today was officially the last day of school for teachers, so I celebrated by having a picnic lunch together with my sister at Kaka'ako Waterfront Park.  The view was breathtaking and I couldn't believe how beautiful the water was!  For those of you Hawaii people who know what Kaka'ako is all about, you know that it's made up of hills of grass that are perfect for sitting and cardboard and sliding down!  Hehe, it must be the closest thing that we have to sledding in Hawaii since we don't get any snow here.  We didn't get a chance to slide this time since we were too busy admiring the ocean, but it's definitely something to add to my bucket list this summer :)

Summer vacation is almost here!

Hawaii public schools are finally in their last week before summer break, and there's definitely a ton of excitement in the air!  This time of the year always seems bittersweet because even though everybody looks forward to having a break, there's always a hint of sadness knowing that you're not going to see a lot of people for a while, and for the ones who are graduating, there's always a chance that you'll never see them again at all :(  Nevertheless, this is my first time that I'm working a job on the public school calendar since I graduated from college 8 years ago, so I'm thrilled at the possibilities that summer break can bring!  Posted below are a few random photos that were taken on a hike a while back.  Hopefully there will be many more to come this summer!

With a new beginning and a little extra time on my hands, I finally decided that it was time for a new blog!  To be honest, the last time that I remember "blogging" was years ago when everybody was into creating their own online diaries.  Anybody remember Xanga?!?!  I'm so excited to finally be able to have my own little piece of the blogosphere!

For all of you bloggers out there who might be reading this, care to share your story of how and why you started blogging?  Leave a comment below!
